LBL, Ride review for April 2004, What a great weekend of riding. I don't know how many red shirts we had this weekend but The Shoals ATV Riders were all over Land Between The Lakes. I camped with my son and some other friends at Turkey Bay OHV and it was great. Several members rode Friday afternoon, we covered 25 miles. Friday night we sat around the camp fire and cooked hot dogs and talked about the next day of riding that was coming up. Saturday started with breakfast at the Lodge overlooking the river. Then we were off to Turkey Bay. Man everyone was ready to hit the trails. We broke up into groups and hit the trails at LBL. With 40 miles of riding Saturday most of everything went great until that afternoon. Yes we did see several crashes on the ATV and 1 motorcycle. Ken, I hope you wife is ok. Now she was right in front of me going down a steep hill. About half way down she was trying to keep the ATV from running away and slid onto a little. Then all of a sudden her ATV flipped over on its left side throwing Mrs. Young to the ground. She hit hard, we checked her and turned her ATV back up. We tried to talk her into waiting until someone could come check her out but she wanted to ride her ATV out on her on! So she did. We came up on another crash, not a club member but Tony and several other club members was trying to help. He had flipped and hit a tree. We seen them get this guy and his ATV back on the trail and then he takes off sliding off the trail again and hitting a tree. Man I had to leave. I couldn't take much more of that! I later seen the same person riding wide open down the trail. Another crash was a motorcycle. These large rocks at LBL and a 2 wheeler, motorcycle don't go together. He hit a rock as he was going down the trail and over the handlebars he went. He now has a Motorcycle for sale. He wants to but and ATV to ride! I was give out Saturday night and ate at the camp site. Several went out to eat Pork-Chops and I wish I felt like making that trip. But my crew rode until 5:30.
I hope everyone made it home safe and the ones that crashed I hope you and your ATV is going to be OK.
